Hello World!

My name is J. Delaney Hansen, I usually go by Delaney or "Dee". I am a crafter/artist/writer and Desktop Publisher. My younger daughter, Skye, and I currently set up our "shop" beneath a green and white striped canopy at a flea market in Waterford, Michigan on Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 5pm, if you're in the area stop by and say hello! We are out there every weekend (unless it's raining) working on our crafts and trying to sell off a mountain of accumulated possessions in preparation for purchasing a used travel trailer and taking our business on the road as full-time RVers. Eventually we'd love to have a "toy-hauler" motor home so we can set up part of our studio in the "garage" area and tow our well loved but older pick-up truck. Part of the reason we've decided to take our "show" on the road is so we'll be able to periodically stop in and see my older daughter, Cerina, the love of her life, Jack and their five children who all happily live in the Florida Panhandle. Skye and I miss them all dearly and have not seen them for over three years! I'd like to get to know my three grandsons (Ewan -8, Ridley -6, and Aiden -4) again and meet my two little granddaughters (Rini nearly 2 and Elora only a few months) for the very first time. Grandma and Auntie Skye need their hugs!

For the time being my writing has been put on hold, but I have been working on my first screenplay and novel, which is a Science Fiction / Fantasy about what could happen when the Mayan Long Count runs out on December 21, 2012. I have ideas for future stories as well, and have been writing content for the Internet, as well as my own web site, plus short stories for publication and now this blog. I'm sure I will find plenty of inspiration out there as we travel the highways of this beautiful continent. I'd say country, but we intend to visit Canada as well and it is just as beautiful as the US.

I think of my self as a multi-faceted individual who doesn't put all her eggs in one basket. Author Barbara Sher refers to people like me as "scanners". If you've never heard of Barbara Sher she is a wonderful lady who wrote a number of really great "self-help" books on discovering who you really are, what you really want out of life and how to go about making those dreams come true. Yes, they actually can come true, I'm living proof! Just google "Barbara Sher" to find her website.

I have an "on-line" store at http://GaelicKnotStudio.etsy.com/ and a website at http://www.gaelicknotstudio.com/ along with Skye, who is also a multi-faceted lady. The etsy site is much easier to update so it is generally more current with our lastest one-of-a-kind craft items. We create all original handmade pieces utilizing objects from nature when possible. Much of our work has a Gaelic or Celtic theme or uses materials imported from the British Isles. We make hand knotted necklaces, bracelets and earrings with a beautiful and soft white or off white linen cord imported from Ireland and glass beads, sea shell or bone beads. The bracelets and adjustable choker style necklaces contain no metal for people who have allergies to metal. We also cut and wrap our own wreaths from fresh willow and grapevine and decorate them with life-like silk flowers. Our beautiful Weeping Willow wreaths are hand wrapped into a Trinity knot shape. There are many other items on our web sites that we have designed ourselves, including hand painted river rocks decorated with Irish shamrocks and Scottish thistles that make great paperweights, knotted banners many with rustic hanging bars and wood beads hand made from recycled holiday trees, hand knotted round mats and snowflake holiday tree ornaments also from the Irish linen cord, and cute cat shaped kitty toys with made with bright fabric covers stuffed with soft fiber and 100% organic catnip ( 10% of the cay toy sales is donated to help find forever homes for stray or abandonned cats). We are always adding to our collections, both at the flea market and our Etsy site. We also design our own stained glass suncatchers, framed mirrors and panels and will be adding to them as time and space allows. Plus we have plans to add homemade Brittish scented soy candles to our shop, in support of the numerous Soy Bean farmers through the "Thumb" area of Michigan.

Well...it's time to start getting ready for another day at the flea market. Know any one looking for vintage Barbie stuff from the 80's and 90's? We've got a bunch of it. How about a kitty?
